Are students struggling with vocabulary?

Iowa may have the highest graduation rate, but younger students are struggling.

That's the word from the Iowa Department of Education. A report released Friday shows fourth grade vocabulary scores dropped significantly from 2009 to 2011 and were stagnant at the 8th grade level.

The results are from the National Assessment of Educational Progress, and this is the first comprehensive look at how students understand word meaning.
