Rock Island County Officials are making sure Quad Citians are safe in case of a nuclear explosion.
The nuclear drill happened at the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station in Cordova.
Every two years, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency conducts these drills to make sure the community is safe.
Law enforcement, school officials, rock island county board members, and the Red Cross got together at the emergency management center behind the Quad City Airport and acted as if a real life explosion occurred.
"We're prepared in Rock Island County. All the government agencies, law enforcement, even the schools and Red Cross are prepared in the case of an emergency that they are going to be safe or as safe as we can possibly make them," says Phil Banaszek, Rock Island County Board Chairman.
On Friday, officials will be debriefed on their performance and what went well, what didn't and what improvements can be made.
