Suspicious fire in Davenport

A Davenport house fire has landed 2 people in the hospital, and investigators say something about this fire doesn't add up.

Officials say crews were called to 50th Street just before 9 Wednesday morning for a house fire. Investigators say a man and woman were found inside the house and brought to the University of Iowa Hospital.

That's when the crime scene tape went up. Investigators tagged a gas can, swabbed samples, and bagged other evidence like a piece of clothing they found on the front lawn.

They even brought out a blanket that was still smoking hours later. Pieces of that were cut out by investigators and bagged.

Neighbors say the family that lives there are some of the nicest people they know and the whole block is wondering what might have happened.

 Fire officials say they don't plan on releasing any information until the investigation is done.
