A traffic dispute turns dangerous in one Rock Island neighborhood, leaving a woman in the hospital. In a story you'll only see on CBS 4, you won't believe what the victim's daughter says led to the shooting.
Around 5PM Friday, Rock Island police were called to 9th Street and 23rd Avenue for a woman who'd been shot in the leg.
Brittany Guthrie says ever since she could remember, speeding has been a big problem in her neighborhood, "We have kids on the street every single day. We do not need to be getting anybody ran over."
Guthrie says they've tried to get the problem fixed, "...we've called the cops plenty of times for them not to speed down the street."
But she says nothing's changed, and the frustration all came to a head Friday when a car came flying by.
"My dad threw the egg at the car and then my mom came out of the neighbors' house and she got shot in the leg."
Guthrie says she just can't believe someone would take it so far and actually shoot out of their car, and while she's upset her mother got hurt, Guthrie says it could have been a whole lot worse, "We have kids all over in the house and we're getting shot at?"
Guthrie's Mothers' condition is unknown at this time, and police say no arrests have been made.
