10k Donated for R.I. Highschooler's Magazine

An ambitious high school student got a big surprise Monday. 

Representatives from Royal Neighbors of America visited Rock Island High to give a $10,000 check to Jasmine Babers.

The money will help Jasmine and her staff of fellow students, enhance her magazine, ‘LOVE Girls.'

Jasmine created the magazine a year ago to empower girls in the community.

"I think it's important for every girl to try to reach their full potential because they can go so much more farther than they originally expected, so that's what we're really trying to push here," said Jasmine.

‘LOVE Girls' magazine can be picked up at any Quad City Area library.
