Monday night Rock Island announced that Wal-Mart will be setting up shop in the Watchtower Plaza. The giant retailer is going in, in place of all the stores that are already in the strip mall off 11th Street.

Shop owners say they were given until March 1st to get out for the big box store to start construction.

Even though the new shopping center will create hundreds of jobs, some neighbors are still hesitant for the retail giant to move in.

One neighbor says the area is generally pretty quiet on nights and weekends, but she's afraid the 24-7 shopping center will cause unwanted noise and traffic.

On the other hand, Jasmine Crawford is happy the store will be within walking distance.

"Less gas to burn going way out to Moline and it's right by my house so I'm kind of excited."

The new store is expected to bring in millions in tax revenue. Mayor Pauley says they hope to be open by next Christmas.
