The Rock Island Arsenal could be getting up to 87 new employees because of a Virginia office closing. The Army National Capital Region contracting center in Alexandria, Virginia will close in July of next year.
The 266 jobs will be distributed to government centers throughout the country, with the Arsenal getting the most with 87. Other centers include the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Redstone Arsenal, and Fort Knox.
Employees will have until January 8th to decide if they want to relocate to the Arsenal.
The Army Contracting Command manages contracts that supply goods and services to soldiers. There are around 6,800 people employees at more than 100 ACC locations worldwide.
