There could soon be a new medical complex in Moline.
But before Genesis breaks ground, it's asking the city to make the area south of Avenue of the Cities on 41st Street, a TIF District, meaning a percentage of the taxes would go back to Genesis.
The QC Health Service says it's a prime candidate because it transformed the land, which used to be a city dump, into usable space. And Genesis says the project would not only help patients but the economy as well. "
It's gonna mean jobs," said Ken Croken of Genesis Health System. "And these are well paid health industry jobs that provide family supporting wages."
City Council will talk about making the area a TIF District at its next meeting.
