IL veterans program gets additional funding

Illinois is beefing up programs to help military members buy their first home.

Governor Pat Quinn announced Monday that an additional $5 million has been added to the "Welcome Home Heroes" program.

Those who qualify for the program can get a $10,000 forgivable loan.

They also can qualify for low interest rates on a 30-year mortgage, and can get help paying for closing costs.
