Getting parole could soon be easier to get in Iowa.
The Iowa Parole Board will vote Tuesday on a proposal to make granting parole a majority vote, instead of a unanimous vote among the 5–person parole board.
It also calls for new risk assessments, including those that would rate the likelihood that an inmate would engage in violent crimes after being released.
Opponents say that despite the new assessments, the change would raise risks for the public.
