Drivers in Morrison, get ready to hit the brakes. A new city-wide speed limit of 25 MPH goes into effect December 1st.
All city streets will have a limit of 25 with the exception of Illinois Route 78 which will remain at 30 MPH, U.S. Route 30 which will stay 30 MPH, and Main Street from Madison to Orange will have a limit of 20 MPH beginning next spring.
For the first couple of months after the changeover Morrison Police will issue warnings to drivers going faster than the new limit.
