City of Bettendorf Honors Vets

The city of Bettendorf is honoring war veterans today. A ceremony took place at Veterans Memorial Park.

Local veterans groups, plus a command sergeant in the army, came to remember and honor those who have served in the military.

Despite the rainy weather, friends and families of veterans were happy to celebrate their loved ones' sacrifices.

"We can never understand what they went through, but just the fact that we can say thank you and thank them for our freedoms, for everything that they've done," said Annette Wood, who has several family members and friends in the military.

The ceremony ended with a reading of fallen soldiers who served in the Vietnam War from Scott County.
