The Rock Island Fire Department is making driving safer for mothers and their kids.
Firefighters are installing car seats and teaching parents how to make sure the seat is secured properly.
In every car, the manual tells where to put the car seat, but few people actually read it.
For nine years, firefighters have teamed up with the QC safe kids to make sure each child is securely fastened in their car seat.
"More car accidents children are killed and injured severely if they are not restrained properly in their car seats," says Joe Duran of the rock island fire department.
Rock Island firefighters say even if you didn't make it to the station this morning to put your car seat in, you can come down at any other time and they will do it for free.
