A major QC bridge project is forcing dozens of Bettendorf businesses to move somewhere else.
In a meeting Wednesday, the Iowa Department of Transportation told business owners and residents that in the next year it will buy more than 30 businesses along State and Grant Streets.
It's all to make way for the more than $134 million I-74 bridge project. Crews hope to start construction by 2014 to realign Grant and State Street so when they put in the new bridge all the exits will all converge in the same place.
