Amendment for pensions to Illinois Constitution fails

A proposed amendment to the Illinois Constitution that could have made it tougher to grow state employee retirement benefits didn't pass.

The amendment did get 56% of the vote, but it failed to get the votes needed to be passed. The amendment needed three-fifths of the vote or 50% of the total number of votes.
