Voters cast their ballots for the Representative in Iowa's 2nd U.S. House District. Democratic Incumbent, Dave Loebsack of Iowa City won the second congressional seat, he beat Republican Challenger John Archer of Bettendorf.
The Associated Press declared Representative Dave Loebsack the winner around 10:30, Tuesday Night.
"We knew that if we won Scott County we were going to win this race and we won it quite handling actually, so I feel very good about that," said Rep. Loebsack.
At the victory party Tuesday at Jersey Grille, the Congressman along with volunteers celebrated the re-election. This is his 4th term in the United States House of Representatives. But it wasn't a celebration at the Republican Headquarters in Davenport. John Archer conceded to an emotional crowd of volunteers.
Archer said his dedicated team fought hard all throughout the campaign,"We had a fantastic team of individuals all across the 2nd district. We had great representation in each of the 24 counties. I'm sure, I'm going to look back and think of what I could have done differently or better."
John Archer congratulated the congressman on his win shortly after finding out the results. Because of redistricting, starting in January Representative Loebsack will be the voice in Washington for 24 counties, including Scott and Clinton.
