Woman killed in car crash

One woman is dead after a fatal car crash Sunday morning near Port Byron. The crash happened at around 1:00 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of 230 Street North.

According to Rock Island County deputies, the driver, a 21 year old female, lost control after going around a curve and was pronounced dead at the accident.

A 27 year old male from Bettendorf was also in the car and has been transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation is underway and police are not releasing the driver's name until after notifying the family.
