Biden visits Muscatine School

One Muscatine school is preparing for the Vice Presidential treatment Thursday.

The Vice President will speak in the main gymnasium at West Middle School at around 11:30 a.m.

School leaders say having it in the gym away from the rest of the school means the event won't have a huge impact on classes.

"What's good about that is that it can be really segmented away from the school so school can operate in the way it does," says Bill Decker, Muscatine Superintendent.

Vice President Biden has visited the QCA several times this year, but this is the first time he'll speak at a school in the area.

More than 50 students from the district will attend the grassroots rally. For parents dropping off their kids, there are a couple of things you need to know. Secret Service will shut down the main parking lot.

As a result, parents will drop off their kids in the bus area. And instead of their normal spot, buses will make their way through the parking lot to the student drop off.

"It will actually be maybe if anything more convenient for a parent perspective but we'll have police to help make that happen," Decker adds.

Parking for the school and for those planning to attend to rally has been moved to the football field just off Dawson Street.

Everything should be back to normal when school gets out at 3:20 p.m.
