Out of all of the places in Davenport why did Mitt Romney choose Seven Cities Sod to rally?
As CBS4 found out, it took a little persuasion by the owner to win over the Romney campaign.
Keaton Frye of Seven Cites Sod says he never thought in a million years that Romney would accept his invitation but it was worth a shot.
"How do these businesses ya know get these candidates to come to their businesses because that would be neat. So I got on the Mitt Romney website and clicked on a link that said "invite Mitt to your business"
Two months later, 10 semis full of stage and sound equipment rolled on to the family owned farm. Keaton got a call on Friday saying they were in the running, and Saturday it became official.
Crews were up and working at 7 Sunday morning making sure everything would be in place for the event.
Keaton says it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to host such a high profile politician. Seven Cities Sod is now a 6th generation family business selling sod and turf. They've been in Davenport for more than 40 years.
