Empowering women; that was the goal Saturday for one QC organization.
Rock Island's Royal Neighbors of America prides itself on supporting women with its life insurance and annuity services.
But on Saturday, they were helping women for the dress for success program by donating a variety of baskets filled with something every woman could use - from jewelry to bubble bath.
"Just different household items that we can help them start to move forward in their life and regroup," says Juliet Christenson.
"These women are out of work," says Cynthia Tidwell, President and CEO of Royal Neighbors of America. "They are looking for work and we want to do a little pampering for them."
Royal Neighbors also donated $5,000 to the program to help get women back to work and on their feet.
"You can't describe the good feeling when someone gets to a better place in their lives," Tidwell adds. "We want to teach people how to fish not give them fish for a day."
The organization will also deliver 50 baskets to other QC groups including Family Resources, Norma's Place and Project Now.
"My favorite part is just seeing the end product and how much we can come up with," Christenson adds.
"That really jazzes all of us to be here today - to really make a difference in the community in which we live in," says Tidwell.
Royal Neighbors of America will drop off an extra 50 baskets to several other local charities in the coming weeks.
