It's a holiday full of tricks and treats but folks with the Red Cross said Halloween can also be dangerous.
When it comes to costumes, Red Cross workers said reflective tape on disguises and candy bags makes kids more visible at night.
For trick or treating, plan a route ahead of time, and bring a flashlight.
They said you should only go into houses that have a porch light on, and never go inside a home.
And if your kids are old enough to go trick or treating by themselves, take a few minutes to go over the safety tips.
"We get so excited about the costumes and the candy, and the tradition, what we really want to think about is safety," said Kasey Kelly, a representative for the American Red Cross.
