Sandy continues to churn along the Eastern seaboard of the U.S. as a category one hurricane Saturday afternoon.
Forecasters expect Sandy to lose hurricane status by the end of the weekend and potentially make landfall over Delaware and New Jersey as an extratropical storm on Monday.
That's when meteorologists expect Sandy to merge with a cold weather system from the North.
This will cause Sandy to produce snow over parts of the Northeast with some areas picking up 2 feet of snow while meteorologists predict other areas will get a foot of rain with very strong, damaging winds.
Other concerns include flooding from strong storm surge along the coast and widespread power outages.
