A Milan woman is desperately searching for answers after her husband goes missing.

42 year old Chad Stowell walked out of his house last Thursday morning with nothing, but the clothes on his back.

And his wife can't understand why he would leave.

"The longer it goes on you don't know what to think," Jill Stowell said.

All Jill Stowell can do is hope and pray for her husband's safe return.

"We're doing everything we can to get him back," she said.

Jill said Chad left his van, the keys, his wallet, and cell phone at home; leaving investigators with little to go on.

"There's technology out there to kind of lead us down a path where we typically can say we maybe she he is choosing to go missing.  In this case we haven't been able to do that," Sheriff Jeff Boyd said.

Sheriff Boyd said they've search more than 50 acres around the home, but haven't found anything.

"As time goes on we get more concerned," he said.

Jill said her husband is a quiet guy and never gave her any reason to believe something was wrong.

"I honestly don't know I have gone over everything in my head and I can't come up with any sort of answer for it," she said.

The couple has four kids, under 13.  And Jill said it's been tough trying to explain to them what is going on.

"They ask questions and I try and answer them the best I can.  We need him to come home, we need him to know we love him," she said.

Chad was last seen wearing an olive green fleece pullover, blue jeans, and black sketcher sneakers.

If you have any information you're asked to call the Rock Island County Sheriff's Department.
