Quad Citians came together to welcome local refugees with a day of food, games and some tips to help them get started in America.
Today was a fall picnic, where the local community had a chance to interact with refugees from all over the world.
The picnic was organized by World Relief, an organization that helps local refugees get settled in the Quad Cities.
Refugees come from all over the world, but today was about recognizing similarities, not differences.
"A great opportunity to have the Quad Cities and refugees come together and mingle and realize we're all trying to do life together," said Kelly Stewart, of World Relief.
World Relief volunteers said 180 refugees come to the Quad Cities every year.
