The River Bandits season may be over, but many people will be hanging out at Modern Woodmen Park Friday night to help raise money for the Humility of Mary Shelter.

People of all ages will camp out on the field tonight to raise money and get a feel about what it would be like to be homeless.

Just $10 helps sponsor one bed/night at the shelter.

The night includes a stone soup supper, sleeping under the stars and a contest for whoever can build the best shelter.

Participants can also stay as short or as long as they like. The Humility of Mary Shelter in Davenport provides emergency shelter for men and women. The shelter was at risk of closing in September of 2008 before the Humility of Mary organization took over.

The sleep out kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday and runs through Saturday morning.

If you're still looking to register, you can do so by clicking here.

If you can't make it out to the ballpark tonight, you can also donate by sponsoring someone else sleeping out at the ballpark.
