A QC man, who shot and killed someone on the streets of Rock Island, now knows his fate. Antwoine Eubanks will spend the next 5 decades behind bars. Eubanks has been in prison since 2010 for the murder of Samuel Rush. Now, the victim's family says they're finally on the road to recovery.
Samuel "Miah" Rush was gunned down in a drive by two years ago. Since then, mom Ramonia Tate said it's been an on–going nightmare.
"No one thinks it could ever happen to them but it can, it did to us. It was a slow drawn out trial but in the sense of justice it all panned out in the end." said Mom Ramonia Tate.
It was an end the family never thought they would see. Eubanks was in and out of court for nearly two years after going back and forth on his guilty plea. The victim's family said they're happy it's all over but Samuel's step–mom said 50 years isn't long enough.
"He took the life, I wanted life. I wanted him to serve life in prison but it will still be at our expense. He will have 3 meals a day and a place to sleep. Miah doesn't have that, We'll never see Miah again," Step mom Letha Knox said.
Eubanks will have to serve 100% of his term. His lawyers plan to appeal.
