Dozens of people are homeless tonight after fire rips through their apartment building.
It happened around ten twenty this morning on 26th avenue in Moline.
By the time firefighters got there, flames were shooting out a second story window.
They immediately broke into the building, searching for anyone trapped inside.
"There was a victim on the second floor, the north side of the rear of the building that was at the window. We assisted him using a ladder, he self evacuated using a ladder," says Captain Mike Maynard, Moline Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to get two people out before anyone got hurt.
They believe an electrical problem involving a phone started the flames.
