Today marks the end of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.
Quad Citians commemorated the event by honoring the military.
The L.U.L.A.C. council (League United of Latin American Citizens) held the closing ceremony in LeClaire Park Monday morning.
The highlight of the day was the seaside wreath salute by a local coast guard division.
Each of the seven wreaths represented the military branches, those missing in action and prisoners of war.
"It is to commemorate and appreciate the privileges that all Americans have in this great country, but it is our month so we celebrate it, especially commemorating and honoring Hispanic veterans of this country," said Maria Mier Llaca of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
This is the second year L.U.L.A.C. has done the military salute closing ceremony.
