Moline residents are getting the chance to save the city's old train depot. City Council voted Tuesday night to give the Moline Preservation Society a 60 day extension to raise the city's portion of the money needed to move the building, instead of tearing it down to make way for the new I-74 bridge project. However, even if the preservation society raises the $155,000 by mid-December, that does not automatically mean the 112-year-old building will be saved. Council members would still have to vote on whether or not to force the state to pay more than a million dollars to move it to WIU's riverfront campus.
