New numbers show tourism is giving Iowa an economic boost. The state's development authority says travelers spent about 10% more in Iowa in 2011 than in 2010. The report shows most of the increase came from transportation, lodging, food service and retail. Tourists generated more than $800 million in federal, state and local tax revenue. The report also says travel related employment increased by 2% last year.
