A mysterious smell forces students from their Davenport schools.

Even some hospital workers went home sick from the smell.  It was the second time the rotten egg like smell has swept over parts of Davenport. It first turned up back in August.  The problem, no one knows where it's coming from.

A smell so foul wafted through the air Monday morning that three Davenport Community Schools were evacuated because of the odor, but educators weren't the only ones concerned about a potential natural gas leak.

Employees had to leave work from Genesis hospital because the smell made them so nauseous.  The hospital actually had to cancel radiation treatments.  Staff called the fire department but when crews got there they didn't find any problems.

A spokesperson for MidAmerican Energy tells us they weren't the culprit the first time folks smelled the odor, and they're not to blame this time either.
