House Catches Fire in Rock Island

Fire crews responded to a fire at house on the 1200 block of 14th Street around 11:00 Sunday night.  Smoke and flames were visible when the arrived on scene, but they were able to get in under control before it spread to any other homes.

We spoke with a woman on the scene who said the house belonged to her Mother who is dead and it is currently vacant.  However, people have broken in to stay there several times.

No word on whether anyone was in the house when the fire started.  The cause is still under investigation.
