It was a beautiful day to take a walk today, and that's what
a thousand Quad Citians did... for a good cause.
The Quad City CROP Hunger Walk is a six mile walk to help
keep folks from going without food.
Participants started off at Modern
Woodman Park
in Davenport,
and made their way all around town, across the Centennial
Bridge, and finally over to Rock Island.
Organizers said a portion of the money raised will not only
help families in the Quad
Cities, but communities
suffering from hunger around the world.
Churches United sponsored the event, which included folks
from all different types of religious congregations in the Quad Cities.
"It's great that everybody comes together, you know we
all have the same goals," said Terry Byrne, a walker in the event.
The walk raised $58,000 last year, organizers hope to get to
$60,000 this year.
