After about 5 hours, fire crews left the scene of a grass fire that came dangerously close to a Moline mobile home park.
The fire broke out just after 5 in a field off 34th Street near the Clover Leaf Trailer Park.
Firefighters put the flames out before they reached any homes, but were worried smoldering grass could spark back up, so they stayed behind to monitor the area.
Crews said tackling the flames was no easy task.
"Plus, it's an old swampy area so the vegetation is really thick and the guys were saying it's at waist height at some points so trying to move hose lines has been really difficult." Battalion Chief Ted Smith of Moline Fire Department said.
Investigators are trying to figure out what started the flames.
