One local group is helping needy families a world away.
"Everyone deserves fresh water and un-clean water causes diseases and kids can't go to school because they spend their day carrying water 5 miles then turn around and have to do it again" Pat Hearath, founder of Wells4Wellness said.
Wells4wellness is having a 5k this weekend to raise money to build wells in Niger Africa. If you want to help the cause it costs $25 to run. The race starts at the pavilion on 53rd street at 8 a.m. You can send your registration or donation to 1804 28th Avenue in Moline. You can also sign up online by clicking on popular links.
