A three-week-old Illinois baby is safe this morning after she was abducted and missing for 12 hours Thursday.

The mother - Kendra Meaker is in police custody facing charges related to Mia's disappearance.

"She loves the kids and I don't know why she's being arrested," says Belinda Corey, Mia's grandmother. "As far as I know, she is a good mother to both of her children, both of her daughters."

19-year-old Meaker was picking up mail yesterday morning at the post office when she says Mia vanished from inside her car.

Residents of Toulon, Ill. searched for hours along with local and state police for the missing child.

Volunteers found Mia Thompson early last night in a ditch along a rural stark county road. Police say they are relieved little Mia is doing fine in a nearby Peoria hospital.

"I know naturally there was going to be an ending," says Jimmy Dison, Stark County Sheriff. "To have a happy ending like this as far as the child is concerned is by the grace of God."

Police are investigating the situation.

Police said Meaker was arrested after being questioned for hours by the FBI.
