The 3 day Anderson Erickson Dairy strike in Des Moines is over... at least for now. The 300 workers have agreed to go back to work until October 3rd under their existing contract. At that point they will sit back down with AE managers and hash out details of a new contract. The union was concerned about language in the new contract that threatened their 40 hour work week. They also say it asks them to pay more for health care costs.
"With the rising cost of health care we are asking employees to help share in those costs. It is not about changing the work week and it is not about salaries and wages," said Kim peter, Anderson Erickson Dairy Company.
Anderson Erickson supplies dairy products all over Iowa, Illinois and Kansas.
