Moline Doctor accused of Sexual Assault

A Moline doctor is arrested and charged with sex crimes. He's accused of assaulting two of his female patients. Dr. Norman F. Williams is charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault. Police said Dr. Williams turned himself in and posted bail last Friday. Dr. Williams practices at Gastroenterology Consultants in Moline.

Police said the two women claim the attacks happened during office visits. Police said they have been investigating Dr. Williams since April. That's when the first patient came forward. "There's two allegations, by two separate victims as to sexual assault that occurred in his office," said Detective Scott Williams.

Police believe the assaults occurred inside Dr. Williams office at Gastroenterology Consultants. Officers said on April 5th, a 55-year-old woman came forward with serious accusations, " A victim came forward to police, and said at an appointment that day, she had been sexually assaulted," said Det. Scott Williams.

Then on June 6th, the second patient, a 33-year-old woman reported she too had been sexually assaulted by the doctor. Police said she waited to come forward, claiming the incident happened July of last year.

"Criminal sexual assault is an extremely serious crime, allegations aren't made or charges aren't made lightly, it's a serious offense," Det. Williams said.

Dr. Williams appears to have a checkered past. In 2003, his medical license was placed on probation for 5 years by the Georgia Medical Examiners Office, because he had illegally prescribed medication to six of his patients, including some family members. He was also fined $20,000 dollars. In 2010, Dr. Williams got his license to practice medicine in Illinois. If convicted, Williams could face 8 to 30 years in prison.
