Quad Citians hit the pavement today for the annual QC Marathon, but it wasn't just the runners who hit a milestone today.
It was the marathon's fifteenth anniversary. More than 5,500 joined in to make this year record breaking.
One QC man shared a milestone of his own.
"I turned 60 this year and i thought, god, I gotta do it one more time," said Jim Anderson, a 3 time marathon runner.
This is Jim Anderson's third time running a marathon. The last time he did the 26.2 mile run was back in 1999.
"I hurt a lot more today than I did back then I mean you feel more pain when you get to sixty."
The marathon vet knows what it takes to train. But he says, it helps to have a friend to train run alongside with.
"It takes a lot of your personal time, dedication, you're up early or you're running late, trying to doge the sun. It's hard work," said Brandon Albertson, a marathon runner.
But Jim says, with a little pride and determination he will finish the race.
"I'm gonna do it, I hope and pray to god I can make it. My wife's supposed to meet me at the twenty to help me the last six, so that's something."
Jim did finish the race.
