Today, Lee County State's Attorney announced the former Dixon Comptroller, Rita Crundwell, is now facing 60 counts of felony theft.
Each theft count accuses her of stealing more than $100 thousand dollars in government property.
The theft allegedly took place from January first, 2010 through the day Crundwell was arrested on April 17, 2012.
That's in addition to her original charge of wire fraud by a federal court that accused Crundwell of stealing $53 million dollars from the city of Dixon.
These charges are in addition to the federal charges accusing Crundwell of stealing money from Dixon from 1990 through 2010. The sterling police department is investigating the case.
"There had to be some paper trail here in city hall and so we issued subpoenas. it took a while to find what we needed. it took a while to have a responsive organization respond with information and from there it took quite a while for Lieutenant Morgan to collect, gather, and analyze," says Henry Dixon, the Lee County State's Attorney.
The next federal court date is October 10th. Dixon says Crundwell will be ordered to appear in Lee County Circuit Court some day after the 10th.
