September is National Preparedness Month and the Red Cross is asking families across the country, What's your emergency game plan?
The Red Cross is pushing families to start talking about ways to protect themselves in any disaster.
Whether it's a flood, tornado, or house fire, Red Cross leaders say every home needs a first aid kit, and enough food and water for at least 3 days.
"Now is just a good time to talk about it because it's too late once you're in the middle of a fire. Where's your family going to meet? What's your contact? Who are your contact numbers? Where will the pets go if you have to evacuate, things like that that family's just don't think about," says Kasey Kelly, the special events and communications coordinator.
The Red Cross has now released a free first aid mobile app that has emergency kit must haves like a weather radio and batteries.
It also has tips and quizzes to help keep your family safe if a disaster happens.
