The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting their first cases of West Nile Virus in people in our area.  Two people from Peoria County are reported to be infected.

One patient is a woman in her thirties, the other a man in his fifties.  In Illinois so far there have been 94 cases this year.  Three people have died.

Experts say that despite our cooler temps lately, there is still a risk of contracting West Nile.  They recommend you take steps to reduce the mosquito population around your home and wear repellent to keep the bugs away.
