Tuesday night in Davenport, dozens of folks gathered to reflect on what happened 11 years ago and honor the thousand of lives lost that day.
A candle light vigil was held by the United Neighbors on North Harrison Street.
Organizers said it's not only important to remember those who died that September morning, but also to honor the emergency responders, and the men and women in uniform who serve the U. S. today.
"We have to let them know that we support them that we are a family and that we will always be there for them and we'll never forget the sacrifices their loved ones make," Davenport Fire Chief Lynn Washburn
The vigil has become a tradition..United Neighbors of Davenport sponsors it every year.
