If a merger passes between East Central and Preston Districts, a new school board would have to decide which, if any, school buildings would go.

Both East Central and Preston schools have sharing agreements with separate school districts.

The future of those programs would also have to be decided.

Even with people showing their opinion in their yard, school leaders say it's unknown which way the vote will go.

"It's too close to call – It's been a long 2 plus year process. I'm happy the vote is here today and will be decided today and just move on from there. Because we need to move on," said Neil Gray, superintendent at East Central Schools.

Polls will stay open until 8pm at community hall in Preston and at both city halls in Sabula and Miles.

There needs to be a majority vote in both school districts for the merger to pass.
