Davenport City leaders are using the drought to their advantage.
Mayor Bill Gluba, the levee commissioner, public works, and other city leaders inspected the seawall along the Mississippi River on Monday.
They say the low water level gave them the rare opportunity to do a visual inspection to see if anything needs to be fixed.
"Like the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. What we're doing today is looking at what maintenance may need to be done on the wall to keep it safe and solid," says Mayor Gluba.
The water level will also make it easier to do any repairs this fall.
