The governors of Illinois and Iowa have ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in remembrance of the victims of 9-11. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will have the U.S. and State flags flown at half-staff at all government facilities from sunrise to sunset.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has called for the flags to be lowered from 8 A.M. until 5 P.M. at state buildings.
The governors are also urging individuals, schools and businesses to fly flags at half-staff during this period as a show of respect.
The September 11th attacks killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and on Flight 93 that crashed in a Pennsylvania field.
