WIU sex assault victim recants story

A reported rape on the campus of Western Illinois University in Macomb may not have happened. University officials have reported that the investigation is closed after the woman who reported it has recanted her story.

Initially the student told police she was sexually assaulted late Saturday night near Sherman Hall. Police increased patrols at the school and warned students to walk in groups and to be more aware of their surroundings.
