An undercover operation goes wrong and one person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Iowa City last night.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. last night at the Breckenridge Estates mobile home park.
The Division of Narcotics Enforcement was involved with an investigation, when there was a confrontation between the officers and the suspects.
Public safety officers tell us that's when shots were fired and several people were shot.
At least one person is dead and a second person involved is being treated at a nearby hospital.
The two narcotic agents were not shot.
Neighbors tell us they have never seen anything like this in their area.
"I was kind of shocked that something like this would happen out here because nothing like this happens," says Jonathan Northup, a neighbor.
"There are a lot of kids out here," says Brad Martin, a neighbor. "Normally in the time I've lived down here it's been very quiet. There's nothing unusual going on. No parties, just nothing; a pretty quiet place."
An investigation is underway and police are not releasing the name of the suspects or officers involved at this time.
