New lead in the search for Trudy Appleby

Moline Police say they are investigating a new lead in the search for Trudy Appleby.

Appleby disappeared in 1996, when she was just 11 years old. She was last seen getting into a silver or gray vehicle with an unknown male in his twenties with curly brown hair.

Today, the Moline Police Department is investigating a new lead, with help from both Rock Island and Henry County Sheriff's Departments, as well as the FBI and Illinois State Police.

Appleby's father, Dennis, says investigators are focusing on an island in the Rock River.

Police are still asking anyone with information to call 309-797-0401.
