A fire broke out Wednesday night at the Sivyer Steel plant just off State Street on 33rd in Bettendorf. The flames started around 7:30 and heavy smoke could be seen from miles away. Crews had the fire out in about two hours. Sivyer's President, Keith Kramer, says it was in a detached building separate from the rest of the plant. He tells us a spark from welding equipment ignited insulation materials. The plant plans on opening up tomorrow morning for their usual business hours.
